Accredited Level 3 Personal Training / Sports Coaching Diploma Entry Requirement
Entry to this Accredited Level 3 Personal Training / Sports Coaching Diploma requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have, good English oral, reading and writing skills.
Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through our contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at OLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.
All students must be aged 16 or over.
Assessment
The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.
Study Hours
Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of this is supported by the OLC Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support throughout their course.

It covers the importance of initial consultations, fitness assessments, and medical screening. The unit details measurements such as blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, cardiovascular testing, and flexibility testing.
Unit 5: Knowing About Exercising
This course segment teaches effective client training methods. It covers planning exercise programs and exploring various training locations and types. Aerobic training, crucial for cardiovascular fitness, is detailed with insights on heart rate training zones for optimal exercise intensity. The unit addresses exercise frequency based on fitness levels. Additionally, it delves into resistance training, discussing the merits and drawbacks of free weights and machines. The unit concludes by emphasising the importance of progression, and workout modifications, and providing information on long-distance running.
Unit 6: Training Young People
This unit explores and explains the distinct workout requirements when training or coaching young people.
Unit 7: Training Groups with Particular Requirements
Unit seven prepares you to work with clients with specific needs, focusing on women and older adults. The module delves into the female triad, addressing signs and symptoms, and provides guidance on exercising during pregnancy, including sample exercise programs. Unit 8: Advising About Weight Management
