Level 3 Child + Adolescent Counselling Diploma
This Level 3 Diploma builds upon and complements basic counselling training, revisiting essential skills and core knowledge. Level 3 Child + Adolescent Counselling Diploma Entry Requirements
All students must be 16 years of age and above to enrol on our Level 3 Child + Adolescent Counselling Diploma course.
Level 3 Diploma courses require a minimum prior learning to GCSE standard in order that students can manage their studies and the assumed knowledge within course content.

This module will examine the practical application of these theories in counselling. Through specific examples and activities, students will gain insights into the circumstances where each approach is most beneficial for clients.
Module 3: The cognitive behavioural approach relevant to child and adolescent counselling
This module examines the practical application of counselling theories. Examples and activities guide students in identifying the specific client circumstances that benefit most from each approach.
Module 4: The person-centred Approach Relevant to Child and adolescent counselling
This module examines the application of counselling theories in practice, with specific examples and activities providing students insights into the circumstances where each approach is most beneficial for clients.
Module 5: Ethics, issues of consent, and the child/adolescent – counsellor relationship
This module addresses boundaries, exploring their recognition and management. It covers obtaining consent and the responsibilities counsellors must consider when working with children. Additionally, it delves into the counsellor’s approach to building trusting and communicative relationships with children and adolescents.
Module 6: Main concepts and counselling skills of child counselling
This module examines the workings of child counselling, focusing on how counsellors apply working models and techniques to facilitate positive change.
Module 7: The role of play and specific activities in child counselling
This module explores how storytelling, games, and play with diverse toys and creative mediums can enhance exploration and facilitation in child counselling.
Module 8: Using worksheets for goal setting, exploration and expression in child counselling
This module investigates the effective utilisation of worksheets and provides examples of their application in various situations.
Module 9: Adolescent counselling: understanding
This module explores how the counsellor establishes a relationship by understanding the environmental influences, stresses, and attachments of the adolescent.
Module 10: Adolescent counselling: proactive practice and specific strategies
This module delves into how the counsellor employs a proactive approach, communicates effectively, and facilitates behavioural changes in adolescents. It also covers creative and psychosocial strategies specific to this counselling field.
