Assessment Objectives (AO)
AO: 1
Students are required to choose and effectively showcase pertinent knowledge and understanding using evidence, examples, and accurate language and terminology relevant to the course of study. Assessment comprises two written assignments, one midway through the course and another after completing the final unit. Both assignments are evaluated and graded by the assigned tutor in accordance with college procedures.
AO: 2
Students must critically evaluate and justify viewpoints using evidence and reasoned arguments. They can incorporate various formats, such as documentation or images, to support their written work in the course.
Quality of Written Communication (QWC)
Additionally, OLC mandates students to generate written content in English. Candidates must guarantee legibility and accuracy in spelling, punctuation, and grammar (SPG) to ensure clarity of meaning. They should choose an appropriate form and style of writing for studying the complex subject matter, organise information coherently, use specialist vocabulary when necessary, and apply Harvard referencing for citations and sources. SPG will be evaluated in all tutor-marked assignments (TMAs) as outlined in this Specification.

Accredited Level 3 Sports Psychology Diploma Entry Requirement
Entry to this level three course requires that potential students have gained GCSE/IGCSE or equivalent qualifications and have good English oral, reading and writing skills.
Advice on enrolment and guidance of prior learning (APL) can be obtained through our contact centre. The course is a rolling programme and can be started at any point in the year. Successful students can go on to Higher Education, including remaining as students at OLC to complete courses in our portfolio of higher awards.
All students must be aged 16 or over.
Assessment
The coursework is assessed through continuous assessment with no formal exit examinations.
Study Hours
Approximately: 200 hours of personal study time for the entire course is recommended. All of this is supported by the OLC Course Tutor, who we greatly encourage students to access support throughout their course.

Assignments
The course has TWO Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA); which are graded: Pass or Fail. The grading procedure is Pass or Fail. Your grade will depend upon if the criteria set has been met and the decision of your tutor. If you fail an assessment you have the opportunity to amend where your tutor has highlighted and resubmit.
Study Hours (Per Unit)
Approximately: 20 hours of personal study time per unit, which is supported by the ODL Course Tutor, but we greatly encouraged students to access support from their tutor throughout the course.

This Accredited Level 3 Sports Psychology Diploma can be used to gain entry to a Level 4 Diploma or higher.
Course Content
Unit 1: In the Beginning
In this unit, you will explore strategies for success and recognise your role in understanding personality, including self-examination. By gaining insights into your own personality, you’ll enhance your ability to identify crucial markers in others. This valuable skill is applicable whether you’re a sports trainer, psychologist, coach, or utilising the skills for personal performance enhancement and skills training.
Unit 2: Participation and Learning
Unit 3: Stress and Anxiety
In this unit, you’ll have the opportunity to investigate anatomy, physiology, and their influence on physiological responses. The material covers the occurrence of stress and effective techniques for managing and reducing it.
Unit 4: The Sports Environment
Here, you will explore the dynamics of competition, scrutinising feedback, reinforcement, and the principles governing rewarding behaviours, encompassing both extrinsic and intrinsic motivations.
Unit 5: Group Dynamics
